  • My precious Grandson, Cooper Vossler, was hit by a car while walking on the sidewalk in Rocky Point, Mexico on March 13th. The driver, Austin Stinnett from Mesa AZ, did not stop and admittedly left the scene of the accident. My grandson was immediately driven to the border in an ambulance and flown to a trauma center in Phoenix AZ where he died from the severity of his injuries on March 17th. Did Mexico just try to get rid of him so he wouldnt die in Mexico?

Mexico has not even followed their own laws. They released Austin, the driver, in less than 24 hrs. They allowed his family to break the seals and clean out the car. They did nothing to preserve the scene of the accident or preserve any of the evidence. They refused to give us any of the reports until we got a lawyer… I thought they, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, were representing us, or at least going after the person that committed the crime.

They told us if we wanted to press charges we had to file within 48 hours.. we contacted them by phone from the trauma center and told them we wanted to file charges. The prosecutor, Norma has delayed us in every way possible, and still is. We went to file charges, Oh no we have to have a death certificate first, (it takes 2weeks in U.S.) We Delivered,.. oh no you have to have a translated copy certified by the AZ Secretary of State. There were many separate trips to Mexico, among many other delays..

We hired a lawyer only to find out he wasn’t one as represented to us, license pending.. Tried to work with a consulate person, he got transferred… start over. The Mexico prosecutor, Norma, released Austin Stinnett, the perpetrator of this violent act, in less than 24 hrs. which is against their own law of not leaving the scene of an accident, and not releasing driver when he has caused bodily harm. We’ve been told he wasn’t even carrying a driver’s license, etc.

The prosecutors office refused to give us the police report until the consulate got involved and then only to find that the prosecutor, Norma, intentionally removed pages,,, the important ones! Like toxicology reports.

We absolutely think the prosecutor Norma (the one supposed to be representing us) was paid off big time. We’ve went over her head and feel her boss was paid off as well… that’s one reason we are going to the press, TV, Facebook and keep posting so much, hoping some one can give us help or direction.

The Mayor, who is running for re- election in Rocky Point, has done nothing to help, nor has the Governor Claudia Pavlovich. Both have been contacted and informed.

PEOPLE, please make Mexico follow their own laws!!!!

We also just found out there is not even a court case number yet…? Their excuse is they are still investigating. What are they investigating?? We found witnesses, video, phone calls, pictures. Mexico didn’t preserve the scene or the car!! W
hat are they investigating? Why isn’t there a case number. Why are they not pursuing this!!!

They said recently they would ask him to come back down to report..!!! Are you kidding me?? No person in their right mind would go back to Mexico where they killed someone. Now we’ve been told the Prosecuror has to serve 3 subpoenas with an undetermined amount of time in between each one served. It’s been over 3 months and nothing has been done yet….

And now, today my daughter is making yet another trip to Rocky Point because they insist they have to have all the medical bills??? Why?? It’s a criminal case!!! Is it possible to sue Mexico for wrongful death and mishandling of justice and not protecting us and allowing us our rights as visitors to Mexico??

Just unbelievable… we just can’t give up.😢 Please help us. Our family is devastated

Yvonne Everett, grandmother of Cooper Vossler

    Mother: Renae Vossler
